Why would one woman enrol in not one, not two, but SEVEN different courses at Kensington Neighbourhood House?
Meet Melina Caccetta. Born and raised in Kensington, Melina is a well-known local and the powerhouse behind the monthly Kensington Market. We have been seeing a lot of Melina lately because she has so far enrolled in seven of our 2017 programs. The obvious question is “why?”
“Working part time has afforded me the opportunity to undertake further study on a casual basis, so the KNH environment is perfect for me,” says Melina. “I love the variety of courses on offer and the affordability. Also, last Christmas my partner and I decided to ‘gift’ each other experiences rather than presents and he bought me a whole list of KNH workshops which was the best Christmas present ever!”
Melina is currently attending our 8 week Social Media Marketing course and has also attended a screen printing intensive, cupboard cosmetics workshop, linocut wrapping paper class and an essential oils blending workshop. A mindfulness meditation session is next on the agenda.
Asked why she chooses to attend activities here, Melina says, “I love the one on one attention and the professionalism of the instructors. The courses have both a fun and practical aspect and I really appreciate the relaxed, non-confrontational class setting. I think Kensington Neighbourhood House is a wonderful, valuable community resource. Everyone is friendly and the fees are very affordable. Why wouldn’t I come here?”
Next time you visit Kensington Market, look out for Melina and say hello. She has a wealth of knowledge on all things “Kensington” and loves a chat. She is also keen to support local community groups and is happy to offer market stall space to Kensington/Flemington community organisations.
