About the event
Few things are more precious than the voice of someone you love, telling a great story about something that matters to them. It’s even more precious when you can’t sit and talk together anyone. Our family history connects us across generations.
Join us for a workshop with Nina Fromhold, Founder of Memory Lane Life Stories who will guide you through some practical tips about recording and preserving your family’s oral history. Nina shares this workshop to raise awareness about the value of preserving family histories. She provides practical tips for how participants can create a family project to preserve their history through inter-generational interviews and recordings.
In the workshop, Nina will work through the following areas of interest:
- Why family history matters
- The role of an elder and storyteller
- Why recordings of your voice become a gift of legacy
- How to set up inter-generational interviews and recordings
- Practical tips to create a successful family project
- How to write great questions for an interview
- The sorts of problems that might come up, and how to get past them
- Where to go from here?
This will be an interactive workshop, so come prepared for some thinking, talking and a little problem-solving.
If you or someone you love has a story to tell, making an audio recording is a truly meaningful gift you can give your family and the people who love you. It’s your story, in your words, and in your voice – a lasting recording that you can keep forever. Join us at the workshop to find out more or look up www.memorylanestories.com
