About the event
Learn how to use a sewing machine in this 5 week course suitable for absolute beginners (minimum age 15). Develop your sewing skills while working on 3 different projects - a floor cushion or reversable tote bag, a zippered dopp kit or apron, and wide-legged casual pants or a box top or tee. Material supplied for the first two projects. Sewing machines available at KNH or you can bring your own.
Course content: Over the 15 hours duration of this course you will:
- Make friends with your sewing machine – learn about the parts and how they work, how to wind a bobbin and thread your machine.
- Become familiar with sewing terminology and the other equipment you will use.
- Learn and practice many fundamental sewing skills.
- Prepare, cut and sew 3 – 4 accessories / simple garments using a range of techniques.
