About the event
Learn how to attract birds to your garden and create space for nature in our City! Come and learn about the importance of planting indigenous plants to celebrate the character of the local environment and enhance our local biodiversity.
At this interactive session you’ll meet other like-minded gardeners and have a chance to look, feel and smell some of our favourite indigenous plants for Kensington gardens. You’ll also get a chance to make your own hanger full of bird nesting material to take home and hang in your gardens.
Mars from Westgate Biodiversity, Bili Nursery and Landcare will speak about ideal indigenous plants for Kensington gardens, specifically things that will attract our urban bird friends. Mars will be offering a mix of plants on the day both for demonstrations and for you to take home and try in your own garden. Dr Annie Naimo from BirdLife Australia will speak about the Birds in Backyards program and the local birds in and around Kensington that we can support through planting a Garden for Wildlife.
